Collecting children from school at 3.00pm
In order to maintain effective measures of safety and security at our site, as from Monday 15th April the gates at the front entrance to Quilley (Cherbourg Road) will be closed from 2.50 until 3.10pm for vehicles. This is to ensure the safe exit of the majority of our students. Parents are still welcome to collect children from the rear car park on Chestnut Avenue where there is a separate pedestrian and vehicle entrance and therefore students are not at any risk. PRESS RELEASE
Quilley School of Engineering Ofsted Report November 2012
‘Quilley is a Good School’ – so said Ofsted inspectors when they visited Quilley School of Engineering in Eastleigh on 24-25 October.
Ofsted inspectors reported that “Quilley is a Good school” and “at Quilley students achieve well” recognising the 56% 5 GCSE A*-C pass rate (including English and maths) and that attainment is “rising rapidly” in an environment where “… students are making good progress”
In addition the report details how welcoming the school is, its good behaviour in lessons and around school, that students feel safe and well cared for taking “great care of the all-round development of its students.”
The Joint Acting Headteachers, Mrs Julie Barker and Mrs Juliet Lehrle- Fry said “ ‘It’s all good here’, this very much reflects the feeling of our pupils, parents and staff when you ask them about our school and how proud we are of it.’
Two senior pupils Head boy Jon Wilton and Head girl Cassie Thompson summed it up:
Jon writes “In our time at Quilley we’ve seen the school change to become something very special. Teachers really care about you as a person and want the very best for you. We are encouraged to achieve the best possible results. We are expected to behave and work hard and we know when we leave we will be well prepared for whatever comes next.”
Cassie said “During assembly we were all given a badge saying “I go to a good school” with the Quilley logo on it. This really reflects the community spirit of the school and how enthusiastic we are to contribute to its continued improvement”
The Section 5 inspection was carried out under the new revised framework of inspection (September 2012 which included some harsh changes to the status and categories with the removal of the satisfactory grade to ‘requires improving’.)
Mrs Julie Barker, the joint Acting Headteacher also commented “We had the standard notice of inspection, the day before by telephone and quickly made the decision to present the school as it really is. We didn’t change anything, we went about our usual business of focussing on the children and their learning. We think that is exactly what the report says, we’re delighted”

Congratulations
Quilley students, parents and staff deserve to celebrate our exceptional achievements this year. For the sixth year running GCSE exam results have risen. The critical 5 A*-C with English and Maths is now the highest of any school in Eastleigh and are better than the national average . Our plans to push this rising trend even further are well in place. Congratulations and thank you for all your hard work.
